"Suffer the sorry, old clown who has lost his
crowd of children. Help resuscitate him with your rapture, laughter, contempt
and scorn. Delight
in a night of
music, magic, pain and suffering. Come see Morgan’s Return!"
In what promised to be an amazing, edgy performance of gruesome clown comedy,
Robert Morgan brings the first performance of this new play, featuring
his much beloved clown, Morgan, to Whitehorse. Bring your friends but not
your
children!
Morgan is a former, faded children’s clown who finds himself in an unfamiliar
environment, and very strangely dressed - in a tuxedo. Is he at a birthday
or a funeral? Is it his or someone else’s?
Witness Morgan attempt at a hilarious, death-defying
shuffle from the tomb. Watch the failure of his capacities. Spur him on
to remember
something …anything.
Help him find his pills.
Fetch his cane.
Give the poor bastard something to cling to! Robert
Morgan is one of the driving forces that has helped to establish Canada
as one of the world’s foremost producers of theatre
for young audiences. He has written more than twenty plays, many
of which have toured nationally
and internationally. His clown Morgan toured internationally to rave
reviews for over 20 years.
Robert has won the prestigious Chalmers Award for Outstanding New
Canadian Play six times. Four of his plays have won the Dora Mavor
Moore award
for Best Production. His work has received a total of ten Dora
nominations and has been
performed around the world. The premiere of Morgan’s
Journey will be
an event in Canadian theatre history.
