Annie Dugan is an actor, writer, aerialist,
a co-founder of Firefly Theatre and today’s foremost practitioner
of the dangerous art of Extreme Hula-Hooping.
Annie has created and performed her own work
all over Canada, the United States, and in Asia, appearing at more
than 40 festivals,
including The
Vancouver International Comedy Festival, Festival d’Ete Du Quebec,
and the Singapore River Busker Festival. As an actor, she has graced
the stages of the Citadel Theatre, Dog Productions, Pleiades/Vertigo
Mystery Theatre, Ghost River Theatre and Azimuth Theatre. She is a graduate
of the Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre and has trained
at the San Francisco School of Circus Arts and the American Conservatory
Theatre in San Francisco. She also teaches with the Winnipeg International
Children’s Festival’s Circus Arts and Magic Program.
Dedicated to merging the disciplines of circus
and theatre, Firefly Theatre productions include Primordial Blues,
Ballerina on a Horse,
RetroActivism:
A Review, and The Spirit of Eleanor. Annie and Firefly also create
interdisciplinary site specific work, including the interactive
aerial installation The
21st Century Gargoyles and the upcoming project for the 2004 Edmonton
Street Performers Festival, Crosswalk Theatre.
